It is Queen's Birthday weekend as I sit
and write this and it is a good day to
be inside with the fire lit.
We have been busy with Gracie recently.
Firstly with her 7th form ball in mid-May.
She was on the ball committee so was involved
in the organisation and decoration of
the venue etc. The theme was masquerade
and it all went off very well. Gracie
went with her friend Daniel and they both
looked gorgeous! Straight after that it
was down to Tongariro National Park for
the Sir Edmund Hillary Challenge secondary
schools competition. Gracie and her seven
super-fit team-mates spent the week doing
all sorts of excessively adventurous and
exhausting physical and mental activities.
They had a blast and were very proud of
their achievements - despite the final
placings not reflecting their efforts!
I spent the week down in Turangi, so was
able to catch up with them on a few of
the days. Then it was straight back home
and into mid-year assessments for Gracie.
Phew!
Kirsty is house-sitting in Cambridge this
month, so our house is back to a whanau
of only three. Mind you, she has been
coming home quite a bit to ride her horse
... and sneak in a few home-cooked meals.
Kirsty has bought herself a lovely little
dark blue Honda Civic - this is her first
car that she actually owns and is very
proud of it. Her university work seems
to be coming easier to her now, so hopefully
her upcoming exams will bring a smile
to her dial.
Hamish is like a pig in mud down at Methven
- Mount Hutt has opened for the ski season.
I got a text from him today saying he
was at the top of the mountain and the
view was stunning and that he was SO glad
that he had decided to get a pass for
the season. Hopefully his work load will
allow him to make the most of it.
OK, now if you are reading this in New
Zealand and you haven't been to see The
Topp Twins movie ......GO NOW! Colin and
I took the girls and we all really really
loved it. So funny and a real slice of
Kiwiana. We laughed and we cried and we
laughed some more. Highly recommend it.
I will finish this off now. And (in case
you are wondering) No ... we didn't have
the winning Cambridge-bought ticket for
the 16 million Lotto draw. We wish. BUT
we have had some really good discussions
about what we would do if it had been
us!
See you at The Lofthouse and/or at a Two
Tarts cooking class sometime. Book early!

waits until it is their turn to talk."
