This
will be a very quick update today - the
silly season has pounced on me! I am in
the middle of The Two Tarts frantic lead-up
to Christmas with three classes a week
- Fiona and I are having a blast but the
bags under the eyes are turning into suitcases
and it has dawned on us that we are not
25 any more! The Lofthouse is pretty well
booked up through this month too, so not
much time for the necessary gift shopping.
However, I have made my Christmas cake
and two puddings so at least they are
ticked off the list.
We are very excited as we are hosting
our very first wee wedding here this month.
Just twelve guests with the ceremony being
held out on our deck with stunning Maungatautari
as the backdrop. The Two Tarts are catering
the afternoon tea and the honeymoon couple
staying in The Lofthouse for our Full
Monty package. Should be fabulous.
Our girls are both finished their exams
- Kirsty has had her results and, much
to her surprise, has passed everything.
Gracie has to wait until the new year
for her results. She was presented with
her Future Leaders scholarship at the
Cambridge High School senior prizegiving
and was also awarded a $1,000 school scholarship
- which she tells me is earmarked for
a laptop for uni (and Facebook no doubt).
Both girls are now working full-time for
the holidays - Kirsty back at Equibreed
and Gracie at Windsor Park Stud. Hamish
is working all sorts of ridiculous hours
which he loves, and he is a very happy
chappy as he has been told he is getting
a new truck very soon - I try to understand
his happiness, and I guess it's like me
getting a gorgeous new pair of shoes!
He will be up with us on the 19th of this
month and going back down to Christchurch
on the 27th. My whanau all around me for
Christmas again - I wonder how many years
we can pull this off now that the kids
are all grown?
Colin is ready for a break - he makes
an indispensible Third Tart on our class
nights and works long days, so it will
be nice for him to switch off when his
office closes down for two weeks and we
put The Two Tarts to bed (literally!)
for a few weeks.
So I will wish you all a delightful holiday
time - may you get to spend time with
those you love, eat lots of delicious
food and stay safe on the roads.
